Stainless Steel 316L Sheets

SS 316L is a lower carbon content than the SS 316 version of the alloy. However, this is the way that the alloy is heat-treated with the use in the manufacturing of industrial used equipment. The alloy is having the desired carbon precipitation which is commonly welded.

The Difference Between SS 316 and 316L sheets

SS 316 Sheets and SS 316L Sheets are both grades of stainless steel, but there is a slight difference between the two. Stainless Steel 316 Sheets are a standard molybdenum-bearing grade with good corrosion resistance properties, while SS 316L Sheets is an extra-low carbon version of SS 316, which is used to minimize carbide precipitation during welding and improve resistance to intergranular corrosion.
